Our artists: interview to Laura

Laura joined Lumen Invoco, becoming passionate about the art of poid polka dots, today is a fundamental element of the group.

How did you approach Lumen Invoco?

A girl from the group enters the scene. Solemn. Although I was extremely far from the stage, I felt the connection she wanted to create with us, spectators. With sure movements, she began to move in the midst of that flurry of flames.

I was so fascinated by the idea of being able, not to tame but to dance together with an element that was in itself unstoppable. I want to be like this, I thought. From that moment I began to look for information on the group, and it was not long before, thanks to a course taught by Fabrizio Fedi, the founder of Lumen Invoco, I was chosen to officially join it.

What is your goal as an artists?

I would like to be able to express myself more and more, through the practice of poi art. Almost like a dialogue between me and the audience. My goal is to succeed in creating an ever stronger connection between me, and who is looking at me at that moment.

I would also like my students to share this research. I would like them to find their way to communicate with their body and with the use of our tools, all they have inside. Training hard to make this happen will never let our flame go out. The one we have inside. That of passion.

How do you feel in front of the public?

I think it’s one of the most particular emotions I’ve ever experienced. It is a combination of excitement and tension, which is difficult to send away. Fortunately, I add. When you find yourself in front of an audience, adrenaline and concentration risk creating filters with viewers, if you don’t manage well.

However, our training allows us to enjoy the moment, to be totally present on the scene, and to always keep the level of concentration high. This is where dialogue with the public is born. What drives you to search again and again for that emotion.
